Welcome to the North Carolina Psychological Association (NCPA) Statewide Psychologist Referral Service. The North Carolina Psychological Association provides this service as a way for you to find psychologists* who are located near you and who provide the services you want. You may select by county, by ages of clients seen, and by the specialty areas associated with your concerns. You will receive a list of psychologists whose self-described services match with your needs. Click on any psychologist's name to find out more about that psychologist. Many psychologists have web pages that further describe their services. You may broaden or narrow your search to find a different, larger, or smaller selection of psychologists. NCPA suggests that you contact at least three psychologists by phone before you choose the one with whom you wish to make an appointment. You may want to discuss how much experience the psychologist has had with patients/clients with problems similar to the one(s) you have, the cost of services, how frequently you would be seen, the predicted length of treatment and any questions you have about training or experience. Please remember that most psychologists will be in session with patients/clients when you call, so you may need to leave a message as to where and when the psychologist can return your call. * Psychologists in the NCPA Referral Service are licensed in the State of North Carolina. Psychology licensing in North Carolina is generic. The listing of psychologists' specialties is based on self-report. Psychologists provide testing (assessment), psychotherapy, consultation and other services. Psychologists do not prescribe medication.
