* This workshop was designed to meet the ethical/legal CE requirement for NC psychologists.
Continued risk analysis is an important component of compliance with many legal requirements. The workshop will include the legal and ethical aspects of compliance.
Ms. Cameron and Dr. Cooper will present a refresher on the legal/ethical issues that practitioners should consider on at least a yearly basis in their practice. In addition topics to be covered will include the Red Flag rule and identity theft protection, records retention, record-keeping to assure that your records are in compliance with auditing, legal and ethical requirements, use of electronic medical records, tele-health and phone therapy, and ethical issues in using social networking. Information will include a brief review of the legal and ethical requirements under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules to help practitioners assure they are in compliance with both rules.

Sally Cameron is Executive Director of the North Carolina Psychological Association. Charles Cooper, Ph.D. is the Director of Professional Affairs for the NCPA Division of Independent Professional Practice. Both have presented on HIPAA and other practice issues since 2003.

Credit: 3 hours "A" Continuing Education Credit
The two year license renewal period for psychologists ends September 30, 2010. This workshop is intended to meet the ethical/legal requirement for Category "A " continuing education credit.
Attendance: To receive credit, you must be present for the entire workshop, and you must sign the sign-in/out sheets. No partial credit will be given.

CONFERENCE REGISTRATION: The deadline for registration is 1 week prior to the workshop. Any registration not received 1 week prior to the workshop will be charged an additional $40 late fee. Registration fee is for the workshop only. If you cancel 2 weeks prior to the workshop you will receive a full refund*, a one-half refund by noon 1 week prior to the workshop* and no refund after noon 1 week prior to the workshop. *There will be a $40 service charge for any cancellations.
CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS: The North Carolina Psychological Association is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The North Carolina Psychological Association maintains responsibility for this program and its content. The workshop is offered for 3 hours continuing education credit. The credits are Category "A" under the rules of the North Carolina Psychology Board.
Note: September 15th Workshop is co-sponsored with MAHEC, Mental Health Education.
REGISTRATION FEE: The registration fee is for the 3 hour workshop. There will be a 15 minute break. SPACE LIMITED - PLEASE REGISTER EARLY
ATTENDANCE POLICY: To receive credit, you must be present for the entire workshop and you must sign the sign-in and sign-out sheets. No credit will be given to participants who are more than 15 minutes late at the beginning of any workshop. No credit will be given to participants who leave before the close of the workshop.
