STATUS OF NCPA CHILD CUSTODY GUIDELINES 1994 DOCUMENT

NCPA has not sold the 1994 Child Custody Guidelines for several years considering them out-of-date. The question arose as to whether this document was considered "rescinded." After consultation with NCPA's legal counsel, the Board of Directors took the following action at its May 21, 2004 meeting in a motion passed unanimously by the Board:

The Board of Directors of the North Carolina Psychological Association rescinds the 1994 Child Custody Guidelines and refer members to the APA child custody guidelines titled Guidelines for Child Custody Evaluations in Divorce Proceedings. The Board requested that members be notified of this action and that it be posted on the website.

The APA guidelines can be found at www.apa.org and type in child custody guidelines in the search box in the top left corner of the home page or click here http://www.apa.org/practice/childcustody.html
