Mindful Democracy: A Message from NCPA President, Dr. Nancy Laney (1/7/21)
Dear NCPA Colleagues,
As I watched yesterday’s events unfold in the democratic seat of our nation, I felt it vital for all of us to meditate on the principles of our Ethics Code. As we strive “to respect and protect civil and human rights”: may we continue to ground our words and work in fact and science; may we find resolutions that do not verbally or physically harm others where conflict may arise; may we treat all human beings justly regardless of age, gender, gender identity, race, ethnicity, culture, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, socioeconomic status and/or political affiliation; and may our psychological work continue to be a bastion of “helping the public in developing informed judgments and choices concerning human behavior.”
I hope that you find the resources below helpful should you need them.

BCBSNC Removes Psychological and Neuropsychological Testing from Prior Authorization
Effective November 1, 2020, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina has removed psychological and neuropsychological testing from prior plan approval (PPA). PPA will no longer be required for psychological and neuropsychological testing. This change aims to help reduce provider administrative time and allow for continued access to medically necessary services. Click Here for more details.

Thank you to NCPA leaders and the Insurance Committee for their tireless efforts in making our collective voice heard in this tremendous victory. NCPA advocates for psychologists, offers defense and solidarity, tells the truth freely, and places value on ourselves when no one else will do so.
Take pride, and tell friends about this courageous fighting formation for our profession!
