NCPA members
  • Must be engaged or seeking to be engaged in professional work that is primarily psychological in nature and have earned a doctoral or master’s degree in psychology or an area that is psychological in nature. 
  • Must be currently licensed by the North Carolina Psychology Board or include a current official transcript of a graduate degree in psychology.

Members in all categories of membership must maintain ethical standards of professional conduct set forth in the APA Code.

    Full voting member psychologists who are licensed as Licensed Psychologists (LPs) or Licensed Psychological Associates (LPAs) who are interested in investing in the financial health and viability of NCPA.

  • Early Career Psychologist

    Full voting member psychologists who are licensed as Licensed Psychologists (LPs) or Licensed Psychological Associates (LPAs) that have earned a master’s or doctoral degree no more than 10 years ago.


    • Includes ALL full anchor level benefits at a significantly reduced rate for the first 5 years post graduate.
    • Inclusion in the ECP special interest group (SIG) and listserv.

  • Emeritus (formerly Retired)

    Psychologist voting members who are working 5 or fewer hours a week, or who have retired from any area of paid work as a psychologist. (non-voting)


    • All anchor member benefits except the NCPA listserv, the Find a Psychologist (NCPA online referral directory), and the Insurance SWAT Team consultations.

  • Out-of-State

    A Licensed Psychologist who maintains residency outside of North Carolina and meets the criteria of NCPA membership. (non-voting)


    • All anchor member benefits except the Find a Psychologist (NCPA online referral directory) and Insurance SWAT Team consultations. Continuing Education reporting to CE Broker is only for out-of-state members licensed in NC.

  • Affiliate

    (i.) A non-licensed psychologist or a professional who has a degree and/or license in a related field (I/O, research, or academic psychologists. (ii.) Or social workers, licensed clinical mental health counselors, marriage family therapists, physicians, psychiatric nurses, etc.) If you qualify for the Benefactor or Anchor membership levels as a Licensed Psychologist (LP) or Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA), you do not qualify as an Affiliate member. (non-voting)


    • All anchor member benefits except the NCPA listserv, the Find a Psychologist (NCPA online referral directory), the Insurance SWAT Team consultations, Ethics consultations and continuing education report to CE Broker.
